Hi there! A lot of new folks here so I just wanted to take a moment to say, I appreciate you subscribing, reading, and sharing with friends (really). It means so much to me that you let my humble little newsletter occupy valuable space in your inbox - I don’t take that for granted. I started this Substack as a creative outlet for myself (wrote about this in my very first newsletter) and I’ve really loved discovering and meeting new people on this platform.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out Maria Hyde’s Substack, Essential Reads, I recently did an interview with her for her series “What’s In” where she highlights different Asian Women of Influence. We covered everything from my career in the fashion industry to how I think about my own personal style now. I genuinely enjoyed the thoughtful conversation with her, and would love it if you checked it out.
Also, I finally named this newsletter (1.5 years into doing this)! Kept it straightforward, with the question we always ask when we see a friend in something we love: “Where’s that from?” My very talented friend, Laura, even drew up a logo for me and everything so it could feel official.
Ok! Onto some links. Pulling together some outfits from August that I wore and loved.

Speaking of LDW sales:
The Vintage Marche is doing a sitewide 10% off sale (she never does a sale so it’s definitely worth perusing) and she has the best vintage bags/accessories. I snagged a pair of YSL earrings I had been eyeing. Code is TVMPRESALE
Ciao Lucia running a sale on some summer goodies as well as some great stuff from previous fall seasons that would be great for fall transition
Shopbop always has a great end of season sale. I know it’s hard to shop with a million brands on that site, so I usually look for denim and a handful of other brands I love (and if it happens to be on sale then it’s usually an immediate add to cart). I noticed this pair of AGOLDE jeans is on sale, and I have them in a darker wash and love the fit.
Freda Salvador has a bunch of goodies up to 70% off right now — including these Embossed croc sandals at 50% off (which I’ve had for 4 years and still wear every summer) and then these ivory flats are 50% off too and remind me a lot of my Jamie Hallers but now for a steal of a price now with the sale.
Bluemercury is doing 15% off $150. The Dr. Diamond Metacine line is on the promo too (if you missed my skincare newsletter last month, that product was billed to me as a replacement for Botox and I have to say it has lived up to the hype and I just repurchased).
Last parting thought. I saw something on Substack notes the other day that was so simple and really resonated with me: “Don’t yuck someone’s yum.” We say this to our picky-eater son regularly, but the context of it here made me take a beat. I think because I’ve been seeing so much talk and critique (just out in the ether, on social, etc.) around “I don’t wear this” or “I would never pair that” etc. and I feel like it’s a really damaging thing to personal style. Who even gets to make the rules anymore?? Anyway, I guess I bring it up to say that everybody has their preferences — you know what you feel the most comfortable and confident in, what proportions work on your body, what colors, etc. — and I think the older I get the more I have come to really appreciate all the nuances to personal style. That’s why it’s personal. Don’t yuck someone else’s yum.
That’s it! I hope everybody is surviving the swing back into school drop offs, managing work schedules — all of it. I’m in the thick of it too and I totally get it.
Have a wonderful long weekend!
My very best,
Justine
