Where's That From: Life Lately & Links
Top-of-Mind things plus some outfit links including some vintage Etsy finds
Good morning from my quiet Veteran’s Day Monday at home. My kids don’t have school today, and I’ve already burned through 3 out of the 4 activities I had planned for them and it’s only 10am, so we’re all piled onto the couch watching a movie together right now.
Life and Other Top of Mind things:
We are taking Fillie on the road and heading up to Marche Collective in the Bay Area on Saturday, November 16th! Get your tickets for this one-day, in-person event here. There are so many amazing brands participating this year; a lot of local LA vendors will be making the trip up. Our Holiday/Winter drop will be launching exclusively there. I am 1000% biased, but I think this is our best collection yet.
On a related note, I’ve had folks message us asking about how to shop the Holiday collection if they’re not in the Bay Area on Saturday. We’ve never really done this before, but we’re planning to put a few pieces up on Instagram stories (including the vintage) for other folks to have an opportunity to grab some of these extremely special pieces. Make sure to follow @shopfillie on Instagram for updates on when we’ll post those!
LA mums, the Bob Baker Marionette Theater put up tickets for their Holiday shows last week. Friendly PSA since tickets sell out fast!
Another PSA to get your boobs checked. I had a scare this September — on the eve of my 39th birthday of all days. Luckily, after having the mass biopsied, everything checked out benign. That said, while I was sitting in the waiting room for my very first mammogram, I can’t tell you how many nurses and practitioners were like “what are you doing here, you’re only 38?” I have no family history of breast cancer and therefore didn’t fit the profile of somebody who needed a mammogram. And at least 4 people reminded me that insurance would not cover the procedure since I’m not yet 40. The tone changed quickly after my mammogram, ultrasound, unsuccessful aspiration of what they hoped was just a cyst, and then ultimately a biopsy. To say it really messed with my mental state and would be an understatement. Anyway, trust your gut, and remember to check your breasts.
Onto the other (lighter) stuff!
The Links
An easy, no-fuss going to dinner outfit. This slightly sheer, soft silk-jersey top (size Small) with these cargo pants (sorry I don’t have a better photo of them, but trust me when I say I wear these 2-3 times a week for a reason, they are extremely flattering). The relaxed fit on the top is what makes it feel polished and less “I’m wearing a sheer top and going ouuuttt toniiightt”, in my opinion. Throw on this necklace as the finishing touch.
To complete your full sweatsuit look. Also, file under really great stocking stuffer gift. Currently wearing the mushroom color and feel like I’m walking on clouds with these.
For school drop off and life in general. I found this vintage jacket on Etsy for $80. I feel like everybody is linking their go-to barn jackets this fall, but I feel like there’s so many good vintage options out there: like this one or this $50 one or most definitely this darker olive one. Also this red one is good. Don’t be afraid of sizing — mine said Women’s XL Petite and it’s cozy and oversized. Wearing below with this canvas bag that has become my latest go-to. It fits a surprising amount of stuff, and has a zip top to keep everything in. I also got these very cute bag charms with my kids’ initials on them.
Have a wonderful week!
My very best,
Justine
