Hi there,
Not entirely sure where April went! Every week was different and the month filled up with various projects (client and personal). The weekends were even more packed with the kids’ activities: swim classes, tennis lessons, birthday parties, play dates — it’s just that time of year. All that to say, we’re doing great over here. I’m doing great :).
Keeping this newsletter short and simple this week. Here’s my roundup of recent outfits and purchases!
I’ve been grabbing this Sister Katie sweater for all my transitional weather needs. Also file this brand under woman-owned small biz you should know. Wearing with these Levi’s jeans that I took 2 sizes up in for a really baggy look (wearing size 27, usually a 25).
This top is also a winner from Sister Katie. The alpaca/cotton blend makes this one feel a little more elevated than your average tank. Worn with these Doen jeans that I own in 2 colors because I love the subtle barrel leg shape so much. They’re obviously longer on me than the model, but I also like the baggier look too and have never bothered to hem them, although I sometimes roll the cuffs.
And still going strong on these J.Crew earrings — aka the Khaite dupes I wrote about last month. Linking again because they are on sale now.
Have taken this St. Roche hand crocheted top for a few spins this spring. The crochet thing is still happening this summer, and I’m liking this as an elevated option to tuck into high waisted trousers or denim. I particularly appreciate how this brand incorporates a lot of hand-made details into their designs. I’m also eyeing this delicate embroidered top which is sitting in my cart.
This Jacquemus top with the cute ruffle hem. Worn with these easy Reformation trousers. The material on the pants is Tencel (lyocell) so it’s soft and very comfy while still having that woven pantsuit look — but it will wrinkle. Nothing a good steamer can’t manage. Blazer is vintage YSL.
I have been out in the pool with the kids a lot this month and got this Hunza G bathing suit recently that I love. I feel really good in it (priority #1 for me especially when it comes to swimsuits) and it’s very flattering.
Things currently on their way to me or in my cart:
After asking one of my cool chic clients about all her perfectly relaxed-fit button downs with her initials monogrammed on them, she let me in on her secret that she buys mostly J.Crew men’s shirts. I bought this blue striped one (took a men’s size S) and got my initials monogrammed on the chest. For whatever reason the right color never links correctly for me from their site, but I got the University Stripe Rain colorway.
Summer white tank refresh. Already bought and wore this J.Crew one with the built in bra that’s great. Just bought this Re/Done one as recommended by my friend Gabs who started her own Substack recently. Side note: give her newsletter a read — she put together a really great list of purchases for this summer!
Easy casual sandals with a heel. Purchased these Zara kitten heels which look like a more affordable carbon copy of these Toteme heels. These Doen block heel sandals are in my cart.
Rosettes! I’m kind of loving all the fun fabric rosettes happening everywhere right now and spotted all over the Met Gala red carpet. I found this very cute Mango top for a future date night or girls’ dinner.
That’s it! Thanks for reading and have a fantastic rest of the week.
My very best,
Justine
